Lockdown ain’t stopping her!

Meet Erin de Kock, now a fully qualified Private Pilot.

Erin’s brother, Michael, did his PPL with us back in 2018. Erin started all her training in Lanseria as she resides in Johannesburg. Before lockdown her family decided to work from their Eastern Cape holiday house until ‘the end of lockdown.’

On the 1 st of June 2020 all Aviation Training Schools could reopen and start training (fully Covid compliant of course). With borders still closed, Erin decided to contact us to hear if she can continue her flight training. We were very excited to have a second family member become part of the Border Aviation Club team.

Erin says her favourite flight was her Cross-country solo navigation to Queenstown. “I had perfect weather and it was such a privilege to see the Eastern Cape landscape from the air!”

Becoming a Commercial Pilot may not have been Erin’s first career choice, as she studied Fine Art at Rhodes University, thereafter she worked as a writer and then decided to start her flight training. Erin is a natural and her passion for aviation definitely shows.

Congratulations Erin on obtaining your Private Pilot’s License at Border Aviation Club & Flight School, on the 4th of July 2020.
